Wayanad/UNI: The Sarvajana Vocational Higher Secondary School in Bathery near here, where a fifth standard student died of snakebite inside the classroom last week, was reopened partially on Tuesday.

The classes---from 8th standard to 12th standard--- will be held in the school from today.

However,  the classes up to seventh standard will be resumed only next week.

The school was closed following the death of Shehala Sherin, who was bitten by the repitle and died on  Wednesday last.

Alleging irresponsibility on the part of the authorities, the class teacher,  school headmaster,  principal and the medical officer of Bathery taluk hospital were suspended from  the service.

Bathery police had registered a suo-moto case against the four on Friday and the arrest of the accused is expected after the investigation is completed.

The Education authorities had transferred teachers in the lower and upper primary section.

Meanwhile the Bathery Municipality had decided to demolish the ruined building in which holes (burrow) were found which caused the snakebite.

The authorities had also conducted a massive cleansing drive of the school premises last week.
