Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe feels India's growth will be beneficial to Indian Ocean Region

New Delhi/Colombo: Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe has said India's growth will be beneficial to the neighbourhood and the Indian Ocean region (IOR).

He made the remark while visiting India recently at the invitation of Indian PM Narendra Modi.

In his media statement following the talks, the Sri Lankan President was quoted as saying by ANI, "I have congratulated Prime Minister Modi on the great strides India continues to make under his leadership in economic infrastructure and technological progress in ensuring growth and prosperity for the people of India."

"We believe that India's growth will be beneficial to the neighbourhood and the Indian Ocean region," he added.

During his visit to India, the Sri Lankan President met Indian PM Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu.

He visited India on July 21.
