Special Police Officer shot dead in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 31 (IBNS): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a former militant in South Kashmir's Pulwama district, officials said on Saturday.

The victim identified as Muhammad Ashraf Mir.

He was running ‘Hilal Hotel and Restaurant’ in Pulwama main town .

Reports say he was on his way to his home at Machpuan after visiting a family in Dalipora when gunmen fired upon him.

He was shifted to District Hospital Pulwama where he succumbed to his injuries.

Doctors treating him said that the victim received three bullets, one in his chest, another in leg and the third one in belly.

Sources said that the victim was a former militant who had later on joined police department.

Presently, he was working as SPO at Cargo Srinagar.

A police official said that a case has been registered and hunt has been launched to trace the assailants.
