Kolkata, Nov 20 (IBNS): West Bengal Fire & Housing Minister Sovan Chatterjee resigned from the Mamata Banerjee cabinet on Tuesday evening.

He submitted his resignation letter at Nabanna on Tuesday evening.

Sources at Nabanna confirmed that this is the fourth time Chatterjee has submitted his resignation letter.

However, unlike previous times, his resignation has been accepted by CM Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday.

The same has been forwarded to the Governor for approval.

Sources said Mamata Banerjee has also directed Chatterjee to step down as city mayor tomorrow.

According to media reports, the CM has been upset with Chatterjee for not fulfilling his responsibilities properly owing to his personal issues.

Firhad Hakim will now take charge of his portfolios and Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Commissioner Khalil Ahmed will take care of the Mayor's chair until new appointment.
