Bandipora, Nov 21 (IBNS): Indian National Congress President Sonia Gandhi alleged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of playing politics over providing flood relief to victims of Jammu and Kashmir.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Friday reached Bandipora of North Kashmir and said the ruling party at the Centre promised the firmament but they fail to do so.

According to reports Gandhi said that the polls are taking place at a time when people of Kashmir are yet to come to terms with the devastation caused by floods.

Sonia said the UPA government went all out to provide succour to the victims of the 2005 earthquake that affected vast areas along the Line of Control (LoC), particularly Uri sector of Baramulla district.

Sonia lauded the role played by the local volunteers in providing succour to the flood-hit saying, "they did whatever was possible."

Asking the people to vote for Congress for safeguarding secular values, Sonia said Congress believes in secularism and to keep away communal powers.
