Sonia Gandhi cuts short Varanasi road show due to ill health, PM Modi wishes her speedy recovery

New Delhi,Aug 2 (IBNS): Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday called off her road show in the politically crucial Lok Sabha seat of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh due to high fever, reports said.

According to reports, she will return to Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished Gandhi speedy recovery.

"Heard about Sonia ji’s ill health during her Varanasi visit today. I pray for her quick recovery and good health," Modi tweeted.

Varanasi is the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday launched her party's campaign for the 2017 UP Assembly elections in Varanasi with a massive road show.

Gandhi, who arrived in Varanasi to a rousing reception by party supporters, was  led by few thousand bikers.

She was accompanied by senior leaders, including the party's Chief Ministerial candidate Sheila Dikshit,  AICC General Secretary Gulam Nabi Azad and UPCC Chief Raj Babbar.
