Six central ministries and 17 States to showcase their tableaux in Republic Day Parade 2016

New Delhi, Jan 23 (IBNS): The Republic Day parade, to be held along New Delhi's Rajpath, on Jan 26, will see participation from six ministries of the central government and 17 states of India, along with the armed forces, schools and other institutions.
The tableaux will present India's rich cultural heritage in a nutshell as well as the nation's socio-economic progress.
 
Some of the states that will be present at the parade are Goa, Sikkim, Jammu and Kashmir, Tripura, Assam, Chattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, etc.
 
While Goa will regale the spectators with a traditional folk dance-drama called Jagor, Sikkim's tableau will depict celebration of Saga Dawa or Buddha Jayanti.
 
The tableau from Gujarat will focus on the lions of Gir. One half of the tableau will show the Asiatic lion as the King of the Forest. The other half will show cattle owners living amicably amidst a pride of lions drinking water from the pool. The cohabitation of man and wildlife is an important component of the Lions Conservation Programme.
 
Tripura will showcase one of its architectural heritage, Unakoti, a Shiva pilgrimage site, located about 186 km away from Agartala and dating back to 7th- 9th century AD. 
 
West Bengal will showcase the singing minstrels, the Bauls, who pursue a distinct spiritual and musical tradition that rise above caste, creed and religion, 
 
The ministry of social justice and empowerment will showcase the life and achievements of Dr B R Ambedkar.
 
Swachh Bharat Mission will be the theme of the tableau presented by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
 
The ministry of Panchayat Raj has chosen Sashakt Mahila, Sashakt Panchayati Raj evam Samaaj as the theme where it will showcase the achievements of four elected women representatives,
 
The tableau of the Election Commission of India will depict the inclusive and ethical participation for a stronger democracy. This is the first time the Election Commission is participating in the parade.
