Sitaram Yechury targets Narendra Modi

New Delhi, Nov 6 (IBNS): CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury on Sunday targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his silence on the recent political developments in the country which include detention of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal recently.

The senior Left leader questioned Modi's silence on the issue.

"A dead soldier's family arrested, senior political leaders and a CM detained. Now, the mother of a missing son. Is @PMOIndia on a maun-vrat?" he tweeted.

Students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) demonstrated  close to the India Gate here over missing student Najeeb Ahmed.

Left activists had earlier alleged that Najeeb Ahmed, a student of  the School of Biotechnology, reportedly went missing after he had a fight with activists of the ABVP last month.

The ABVP has denied its involvement in the matter.

The police have reportedly detained the protesting students.

The students were demonstrating against the failure of authorities to trace the missing student.

Najeev's mother Fatima Nafees has also been detained by the police, media reports said.

The issue of OROP last week triggered a debate recently after ex-serviceman Ram Kishen Grewal committed suicide over the matter.

Arvind Kejriwal and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi were detained as they tried to meet the family of an ex-servicemen.
