Shiv Sena lawmakers accused of forcing Muslim man break fast, Parliament adjourned

| | Jul 23, 2014, at 06:05 pm
New Delhi, July 23 (IBNS) Some Shiv Sena lawmakers are caught in a controversy over allegedly forcing a Muslim catering supervisor to eat food during his Roza hours in the Maharashtra Sadan of New Delhi recently, though the Sena has denied it.

Parliament was adjourned over the ruckus over the incident on Wednesday. The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday last and caught on a CCTV footage.

Reports said 11 lawmakers who were angry at not being served food from their state forced the man to eat a chapati. Arzhad Zubair, being a Muslim, was on fast during his Roza hours.

However, Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde denied the charge.

He called the allegations are false and said they only protested the poor quality of food served.

Zubair, however, said in a complaint that the guests forced the chapati in his mouth.

A TV footage also showed a lawmaker forcing a chapati in the mouth of a man.
