Guwahati, Jan 19 (IBNS): In a shocking incident, three men allegedly raped and murdered a seven- year- old girl in Kamrup (Metro) district.

The incident took place at Jarikuchi village near Digaru on the outskirts of Guwahati.

The horrific incident came to light after local villagers  found the body of the minor girl, stuffed in a gunny bag, from the railway tracks.

The girl had gone missing from her home on Wednesday evening.

After the body was recovered, the  local people vandalised the house of one of the  accused, who later admitted his crime.

The accused persons have been identified as Bapdhan Das, Hemanta Das and Pabindra Das.

They were beaten up by the angry villagers before being handed over to police.

The family members of the minor girl alleged that they had filed a missing complaint at the nearest police station, but police had not taken the matter seriously.
