Seven policemen suspended over negligence in Unnao case

Unnao, Dec 9 (UNI) Seven policemen were suspended for negligence in connection with the setting of Unnao rape victim to fire recently which led to her death on Saturday morning, police said here on Monday.

According to Superintendent of Police Vikrant Veer here, seven policemen, including Bihar police station In-charge Ajay Tripathi, have been suspended on charges of negligence in the case.

The SP said the suspended policemen include Sub-Inspector Arvind Singh Raghuvanshi, Ram Tiwari and Constables Abdul Wasim, Pankaj Yadav, Sandeep Kumar and Manoj.

Vikrant Veer said Inspector Vikas Pandey, who has earlier been the SWAT In-charge has been made the Bihar SHO.

The suspended Bihar police station In-charge had earlier been included in the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

Veer said the suspended policemen face charges of dereliction of duty and being negligent in crime control and taking action in the matter of registered FIRs.

He said all the police stations have been given strict warnings for women security while directions have also been given for paying more attention on night patrolling, foot patrolling, etc.
