Senior journo Gauri Lankesh shot dead at her Bengaluru home

Bengaluru, Sept 5 (IBNS): Senior journalist Gauri Lankesh, who is also an activist in Bengaluru, was on Tuesday shot dead at her residence in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, media reports said.

According to reports, unidentified men shot the 55-year-old journalist seven times from close range.

She collapsed at the door of her house after being hit by three bullets on the neck and chest.

"We learnt that the victim was shot dead from close range when she was standing at her house in Rajarajeswari Nagar (in the suburbs) around 8.00 p.m.," a senior police officer was quoted as saying by NDTV.

A fearless journalist, she was the editor of 'Lankesh Patrike,' a Kannada tabloid.

According to reports, she had been under attack from people with ideological differences.
