Seat sharing tangle continues in Karnataka as Coalition partners JD(S) and Congress failed to finalise
Bengaluru, Mar 4 (UNI) The seat sharing issue for the General Election between coalition partners in Karnataka-JDS-Congress- continued to remain unsolved as the leaders of both the parties failed to take a final decision on the issue on Monday and decided to meet again.
Speaking to newsmen immediately after the conclusion of today's meeting the AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal, who is also in-charge of party affairs in the State said that "the discussion on seat sharing is incomplete and we will meet again. The JD(S) had given a number of seats they wish to contest and we have examined it".
Former Chief Minister and the Coalition Government Co-ordination Committee Chairman Siddaramaiah said that "the talks are going moving in the right direction. The JD(S) wish to contest in a minimum of 12 seats. No final decision was taken in today meeting".
Maintaining that if both the parties fight jointly in the elections, we could win at least 20 seats, he said that "We have discussed on each of the Lok Sabha seats, the JD(S) leaders wanted to contest".
Referring to the claim of the Film actor Sumalatha, wife of Karnataka Minister late M H Ambareesh and the JD(S) leader Madhu Bangarappa expressed their willingness to contest the elections from Mandya and Shivamogga respectively, Mr Siddaramaiah shot back and said that "nobody can prevent if anybody wants to fight the elections".
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, JD(S) party's national spokesperson Danish Ali also attended the meeting.
