'Scared but not running away': YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia says he faces death threats amid row over remarks on reality show

Mumbai: YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, embroiled in a major controversy, has revealed that he is receiving death threats following backlash over his comments on a reality show. "I am feeling scared... But, I am not running away," he stated in an Instagram post.

"I am watching death threats pour in from people saying that they want to kill me and hurt my family," he said, adding that some individuals had even attempted to "invade" his mother's clinic while posing as patients.

Expressing his fear and uncertainty, he said, "I am feeling scared and I don't know what to do... But I am not running away. I have full faith in the police and the judicial system of India."

Allahbadia, best known for his ‘BeerBiceps’ YouTube channel, sparked outrage after making controversial remarks about parents and sex on comedian Samay Raina’s now-deleted show India’s Got Latent.

The comments triggered a wave of criticism, leading to multiple complaints against him.

Reiterating his apology, he said today, "My remark about parents was insensitive and disrespectful and I am genuinely sorry."

Police investigation

Mumbai Police has summoned Allahbadia for questioning regarding his remarks.

On Friday, officers from both the Mumbai and Assam police visited his residence in Versova, but it was locked.

The content creator stated that he has been cooperating with authorities and assured, "I will be available to all the agencies."

He had previously requested the Khar police to record his statement at his residence, but the request was denied. Meanwhile, Assam Police also seeks to question him in connection with a case registered in Guwahati, based on a complaint accusing him of promoting obscenity in a publicly accessible online show.

The case also names comedian Samay Raina and guest judges Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija.

'A lapse in judgement'

Allahbadia, who has millions of followers across Instagram and YouTube, previously described his remark as a "lapse in judgement," insisting that it was intended as a joke.

"Comedy is not my forte. Just here to say sorry... Many of you asked if this is how I wish to use my platform... Family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect. Need to use this platform better and that's been my learning from this whole experience. I promise to just get better... I hope you can forgive me as a human being," he said in a video statement on X.
