SC rules Aadhar card as not mandatory
New Delhi, Aug 11 (IBNS): In significant order, the Supreme Court on Tuesday directed that Aadhar card is going to be optional for availing different welfare schemes of the Central government.
The apex court also directed that the person information of the holder of the card should not be shared by any authority.
It, however, allowed the Centre to link the card with PDS and LPG subsidies.
In the interim order, the court also directed the Centre to make wide publicity through print and electronic media that the card is not mandatory.
