SC dismisses Maharashtra Govt's plea to stay CBI probe against Anil Deshmukh corruption charges

| @indiablooms | Apr 08, 2021, at 09:41 pm

New Delhi/IBNS: The Supreme Court today observed that an independent probe is necessary in investigating the allegations of corruption made by former Mumbai top cop Param Bir Singh against Anil Deshmukh, former home minister of Maharashtra, as both of them held high posts and worked closely.

Supreme Court's ruling came on an appeal by the Mahrashtra government to stop CBI probe into Param Bir Singh's allegations ordered earlie by the Bombay High Court.

"The allegations are extremely serious and the persona involved are the Commissioner and Home Minister. In this scenario, will it not be a CBI case?" the court asked, reported NDTV.
