Sarbananda Sonowal to take oath as Assam CM today

Guwahati, May 24 (IBNS): Sarbananda Sonowal is all set to take oath as Assam Chief Minister on Tuesday.

The Bharatiya Janata Party-led alliance will form a majority government  in the east Indian state for the first time.

BJP alliance captured 86 seats, including 60 seats, by the BJP in the 126- member Assam assembly.

Earlier on Sunday, Sarbananda Sonowal was unanimously elected as the leader of BJP legislature party.

The oath taking ceremony is scheduled on May 24 at Khanapara, Guwahati in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah, Chief Ministers of BJP-led states, Yoga guru Ramdev, spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
