Sarbananda Sonowal takes oath as Assam CM

Guwahati, May 24 (IBNS) In the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top BJP leaders, Sarbananda Sonowal took path as the Chief Minister of Assam on Tuesday.

In his first speech, Sonowal said: "A history has been created."

He said: "Need to work for development of Assam."

In Assam, the BJP  won 86 seats in the 126-seat  Assembly by defeating the Congress, which managed to win only 24 seats.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who attended the ceremony, said
Sonowal will work hard to  transform the state.

"Eastern part of India cannot remain away from development journey," he said.
