Samajwadi Party not to go for any alliance : Mulayam Singh Yadav

Lucknow, Nov 10 (IBNS) : Putting an end to speculation about a 'maha-gathbandhan' in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tursday said the party will go it alone.

"There will be no alliance for the UP Assembly polls. There may be only merger," he told a hurriedly called press conference.

"The party will not form an alliance with Nitish Kumar's JD-U nor with RJD," he said.

The party leadership recently held marathon meetings with  Congress' poll strategist Prashant Kishor in Delhi and Lucknow.

The meetings Mulayam Singh and his son, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav held with Prashant Kishore, gave rise to speculations over the SP going into a possible alliance with the Janata Dal United and Rashtriya Janata Dal against the BJP..

However, hinting at the possibility of no alliance, Akhilesh Yadav said on Wednesday that the SP can win the election on its own.
