Lucknow, Mar 8 (IBNS): Uttar Pradesh Police on Wednesday said Saifullah, who was killed during an operation by commandos in Lucknow city, was a "self-radicalised ISIS operative".

Saifullah killed in the encounter was self-radicalised .through social media, UP's Law and Order additional director general (ADG) Daljit Chaudhury said.

He did not have any handler abroad according to investigation so far,Chaudhury said.

"These days some get radicialised from social media after reading the literature. Laptops recovered prove that they were a lot into these kind of literature. They learnt from internet also on how to make bomb, etc," he said.

He was given time to surrender and even we used a local cleric to persuade him to surrender, but he did not,Chaudhury said.

He said 600 rounds of ammunition were recovered.

Meanwhile, the terrorist's father Sartaj in Kanpur has refused to accept his body since he acted as a traitor.

"A traitor cannot be my son. I am an Indian and we were born here. I will not accept his body," the father said.

After a 12-hour-long standoff, an operation by the Uttar Pradesh police ended on Wednesday with the terror suspect holed up in a house on the outskirts of Lucknow found dead.

Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad was engaged in the operation to flush out suspect  Saifullah from the Thakurganj  house.

The incident occurred after the terrorists triggered a train blast in Madhya Pradesh and a day before Uttar Pradesh voted in the last phase of polling on Wednesday.
