Saharanpur violence : FIR against BJP MP and others

Lucknow, Apr 22 (IBNS) : Two FIRs have been registered against BJP MP Raghav Lakhanpal Sharma and several others in connection with two incidents of clash between communities in Saharanpur's Janakpuri in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, media reports said.

According to police, about 300 unidentified people were involved in the clashes that took place on Ambedkar Jayanti. Efforts are on to identify them.

The FIRs have been lodged on the ground of  violence, vandalism and attack on the house of the Senior Superintendent of Police and the DM office.

The clashes broke out  allegedly after a group of people close to the Lok Sabha member  insisted on taking out an "Ambdekar Shovayatra through the communally sensitive parts of the city without police permission.

The lawmaker also  marched to the Saharanpur police chief Love Kumar's official residence to protest.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Love Kumar said, "A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against over 300 people in connection with stone pelting by members of two communities on Thursday during a rally to mark Ambedkar Jayanti at Sadak Dudhali village.
