S Jaishankar says he was possibly exposed to COVID-19 cases, decides to conduct engagement in virtual mode

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday said he has been possibly exposed to suspected COVID-19 cases and hence he has decided to conduct his engagements in the virtual mode.

He said he will follow similar measures in his G7 engagements as well.

" Was made aware yesterday evening of exposure to possible Covid positive cases. As a measure of abundant caution and also out of consideration for others, I decided to conduct my engagements in the virtual mode. That will be the case with the G7 Meeting today as well," S Jaishankar tweeted.

India is currently witnessing the deadly second wave of the COVID-19.

 India registered 3,82,315 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, as per Ministry of Health released data on Wednesday.

During the same period, 3,780 people died due to the virus.

The death toll due to the virus now stands at 226188.

There are 34,87,229 active cases in the country at present.

During the same 24 hours period, 338439 people have been discharged from hospital.
