RSS out to change the constitution, ideology being imposed on institutions: Rahul Gandhi

| | Aug 17, 2017, at 09:26 pm
New Delhi, Aug 17 (IBNS) : Accusing the Narendra Modi Government of thrusting RSS ideology on "every institution", Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday claimed that the BJP's ideological mentor is attempting to change the constitution and establish its fiefdom in the country.

Addressing a convention of the opposition parties, organised by dissident Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav,  Rahul also launched a scathing attack on Modi for "selling lies to the public" and doing nothing for them.

"The Narendra Modi Government is imposing RSS ideology in every institution of the country...It is because RSS knows that it cannot win elections with its ideology that it is appointing its own people to every institution...Till the time RSS hasn’t ruled India, they haven’t saluted the flag," Gandhi said.

"There are two ways of looking at the nation. Some says this country belongs to them. Some say they belong to this country. This is the difference between us (Congress) and RSS,"  he said.

Rahul alleged that the RSS seeks to change the constitution which speaks for 'one man one vote.'

: Whatever the constitution guarantees, RSS seeks to destroy it. They want to change the constitution."

"RSS tells you that you do not belong to this country. Dalits were beaten up in Gujarat and then, they said that you do not belong to this country," he said.

Alleging that PM Modi sells lies to the public, Gandhi said the Opposition must fight together to defeat the BJP.

“Where ever he goes, Modi ji lies about one thing or the other, they (BJP) will vanish if we fight together,” he said.

"BJP did not keep promise of bringing back black money, offering jobs to youth. They are helping corporates, but not farmers," he said.

Gandhi further said that the death of farmers in the country had no effect on the Government because Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, in the Lok Sabha, had said that loan waiver was not a policy of the government.

"When asked about jobs, Modi government said it provided jobs to one lakh people last year. They promised two crore jobs, but could provide only one lakh jobs. And out of those one lakh jobs, around 30,000 were provided by the Karnataka government," Gandhi said.

“Modi Ji gave ‘Make In India’ but most things are ‘Made In China’. Truth is that Modi Ji’s ‘Make In India’ has failed,” said Gandhi.

The event was called to save the composite culture of the country.

Top leaders of the Congress, the Left, Samajwadi Party, BSP, TMC and other parties opposed to the BJP have been invited to the programme.

This comes after Yadav termed Nitish Kumar’s joining hands with the BJP to form government as betrayal of the people’s mandate.
