Jaipur, Jan 29 (IBNS): Cash and assets worth over Rs 100 crore have been seized from the house of an IRS officer who wanted to get into politics.

According to a report in The Times of India, the Anti-Corruption Bureau has arrested IRS officer Sahi Ram Meena, who is also the author of a book on GST that is selling on Amazon.

Meena, who was caught red handed accepting a Rs 1 lakh bribe, was found to have written letters to the BJP and Congress leaderships expressing his belief in the respective values and his intention to be part of the party.

The police have found the letters but it is still not clear whether he had send the letter to the parties. However, the cops asserted these letter made no different in the current case.

"These letters are irrelevant in our case of Prevention of Corruption Act," ACB additional director-general Saurabh Srivastav told The Times of India.
