Road accident on Delhi-Chandigarh highway kills four powerlifting players
New Delhi, Jan 7 (IBNS): In an unfortunate incident, four powerlifting players from Delhi were killed in a road accident when their car hit a road divider on the Delhi-Chandigarh highway on Sunday early morning.
The car-a Swift Dezire compact sedan, in which they were travelling, first hit the divider and then cashed into a pole on the highway.
According to reports, the impact of the hit was so high that the car rolled over several times before crashing into the pole.
Two other players including a world champion who bagged the title for India in Moscow last year, were injured in the accident.
The players met with the accident at 4 am at a place called Alipur village near Singhu border.
The players who died in the accident have been identified as Harish, Tinku and Suraj, while the fourth person's identity is not known yet, said reports.
The injured players include powerlifting world champion Saksham Yadav and another player identified as Bali.
They have been admitted to Max Hospital in north-west Delhi's Shalimar Bagh.
Some media reports speculate heavy fog as the reason behind the accident.
