New Delhi, May 15 (IBNS): With majority of exit polls predicting a clear majority for Narendra Modi led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the centre, the Bharatiya Janata Party is holding a series of meetings to decide on the future strategies.
Party president Rajnath Singh on Thursday met RSS leader Suresh Soni with party colleague Saudan Singh over three hours at his residence and they were joined later by Modi's close  aide Amit Shah.

According to media speculations,  the BJP is trying to decide on a new  role for the party veterans like Murli Manohar Joshi and Lal Krishna Advani.

The BJP is also planning a grand welcome to its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in New Delhi on May 17.

According to reports, the portfolios of the new ministers is also likely to be discussed at the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting on May 17.

Earlier on Wednesday, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari and Arun Jaitley held a meeting with the Gujarat chief minister in Gandhinagar to discuss their post-result strategy.

If NDA wins a clear majority, a new government led by Narendra Modi could be a reality by May 20, according to reports.

Media reports said Modi could take office sooner if NDA gains clear majority.

The AIADMK of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has indicated good ties with Modi if he formed the government at centre as a senior leader of the southern party said Modi and Jaya are friends and have mutual respect.

Jayalalithaa herself however said she would not comment on anything till the results were declared.

The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik might also lend support to BJP and Modi. While Patnaik himself said no decision has been taken yet on the matter, his party leaders said there could be conditional support.

A CNN IBN report said party patriarch LK Advani could be the chairperson of the NDA while Sushma Swaraj could bag the defence ministry and Arun Jaitley could be the Finance Minister.

A staggered nine-phase Lok Sabha poll ended on May 12 in India with projections in all exit polls that BJP-led NDA will come to power.

Several of the exit polls said NDA will bag at least 272 seats while some put the figure at around 282 in the 543 member Parliament.
