Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar appointed as DG CRPF

New Delhi, Apr 26 (IBNS): The Centre on Wednesday said it has appointed Rajiv Rai Bhatnagar, Director General, Narcotics Control Bureau to the post of Director General, Central Reserve Police Force.

He will be serving the term from the date of joining the post and up to Dec 31, 2019, which stands for the date of his superannuation or till further orders, whichever is earlier.

The appointment was made at a time when the country witnessed a major Maoist attack on CRPF jawans this week.

Carrying out one of the deadliest attacks in recent times, Maoists killed 25 CRPF jawans in a forest area of Sukma district on Monday.

Six CRPF personnel, critically injured in the incident, are now battling for life.

A soldier, who survived the attack, said there were about 300 Maoists, who carried out the operation when CRPF men were guarding road workers.
