Rajiv Mehrishi appointed Union Home Secretary

New Delhi, Aug 31 (IBNS) Senior IAS officer Rajiv Mehrishi was on Monday appointed Union Home Secretary, reports said.

His appointment to the coveted post came after the government approved voluntary retirement sought by the Incumbent Home Secretary LC Goyal.

Mehrishi, a 1978-batch Rajasthan cadre IAS officer, was serving as Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance and was supposed to retire on Monday.
