Jaipur, Mar 10 (IBNS) : The Rajasthan Assembly passed an amendment to the existing law on Friday  making  rape or gang-rape of a girl up to 12 years of age an offence punishable with death, media reports said.

Rajasthan is the second state after  Madhya Pradesh, where rape or gang-rape of minor girls is a capital offence.

The move has been taken to check the rise in crimes against women, including children.

Haryana Chief Minister Manoharlal Khattar has also hinted at bringing a similar law in his state.
