Manika, Nov 22 (IBNS): Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday slammed Narendra Modi over his 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan' and said it is the Prime Minister's marketing strategy.

"Marketing and photo ops do not contribute to the development of the nation," Gandhi said addressing a rally in rally at Manika area in Jharkhand.

Hitting out at Modi, he said: "Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan became a marketing gimmick, development was promised but what they gave in your hands is a broom."

He said the former United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government had worked for the poor during its regime.
