New Delhi/Amethi Jul 8 (UNI) For the first time after the defeat in the Lok Sabha polls, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit Amethi, a constituency which is considered as Gandhi family bastion, on July 10.

A three -time MP from Amethi, Mr Gandhi will reach Amethi in the morning of July 10 and hold meetings with the party workers at one or two places, confirmed Congress MLC Deepak Singh in Amethi on Monday.

In the Lok Sabha polls, Gandhi had lost the fight in Amethi against BJP's Smriti Irani by 55,000 votes.

Gandhi represented Amethi in three consecutive terms since 2004.

According to party leaders, the Nehru-Gandhi scion will meet party workers at Gauriganj over a meal and will attend a programme at Shiv Mahesh College.
He will also collect feedback on the reasons behind the disastrous performance in the state and also assess the post-poll scenario.

The Congress could bag only a single seat in the state with UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi winning the traditional Rae Bareilly seat.

Owning moral responsibility for the dismal performance of the party, Gandhi publicly declared his resignation from the party president post last week.

He is representing Kerala's Wayanad in the 17th Lok Sabha.
