Rahul Gandhi to file nomination today for Congress President's post

| @indiablooms | Dec 04, 2017, at 04:17 pm

New Delhi, Dec 4 (IBNS): Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi will file nomination on Monday to elevate to the party's topmost post, media reports said.

Present Congress President Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will be the proposers for Rahul's elevation.

Rahul's elevation is expected to be uncontested.

The Congress will be heading towards the polls in the Gujarat Assembly election in December as it is aiming to oust the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state.

Sonia, who took over the Congress helm in May 1998, is the longest serving president of  the party.

Rahul took over as Vice President, the number two position,  in January 2013.
