Rajiv Gandhi, who had joined politics after her mother Indira Gandhi's assassination, had served as Prime Minister of India from 1984 to 1989.
He was assassinated by the LTTE on May 21, 1991 at Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.
Rajiv Gandhi was born on Aug 20, 1944.
