Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra mourn death of Sheila Dikshit

New Delhi, July 20 (IBNS): Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and her sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday mourned the death of party veteran and former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

Rahul Gandhi said he felt 'devastated' after hearing about the death of the former Delhi CM.

The Congress leader said he shared a close personal bond with Sheila Dikshit.

"I’m devastated to hear about the passing away of Sheila Dikshit Ji, a beloved daughter of the Congress Party, with whom I shared a close personal bond.  My condolences to her family & the citizens of Delhi, whom she served selflessly as a 3 term CM, in this time of great grief," Rahul Gandhi, who recently stepped down as the President of the party, tweeted.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said her contributions for the development of Delhi will be remembered.

"Her contribution to politics and specially for the development of Delhi will be remembered," Priyanka Gandhi Vadra told media persons," she said.

"She was a tall leader in the Congress party," she said.

Veteran Congress leader Sheikh Dikshit, who had served as the Delhi Chief Minister for several terms, passed away on Saturday.

She was 81.

She had served as Delhi CM three times.

She reportedly died at a hospital in Delhi.
