Bhiwandi, Jun 12 (IBNS): Congress president Rahul Gandhi has pleaded not guilty in the case which was filed by a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker after the former accused the RSS of assassinating Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, media reports said.

Rahul had appeared at Bhiwandi court on Tuesday.

During an election rally in 2014, Rahul had accused the RSS of assassinating Mahatma Gandhi.

RSS worker Rajesh Kunte had filed the defamation case in Bhiwandi in 2014.

The Congress president has confessed that he did accuse the RSS of assassinating Mahatma Gandhi.

On May 2, the court had asked Rahul to appear before it on Jun 12.

RSS, which is a rightwing Hindu organisation, is an ideological mentor of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
