Rahul Gandhi left us: Salman Khurshid on Congress crisis

| @indiablooms | Oct 09, 2019, at 02:06 pm

New Delhi, Oct 9 (IBNS): After facing humiliating loss in two back to back national elections, veteran Congress leader Salman Khurshid on Wednesday said the party leader "left us" even as many people requested him to helm the responsibility.

"Even after the party's loss, there are some people in Congress who will remain close to the party what may happen. While there are some others who have left the party even after the party gave them everything," Khurshid said.

He continued that: "Our leader Rahul Gandhi has left us. He was the party president. Many people requested him to stay but he did not. He might have his own opinion for not carrying on with the leadership."

The remark seems to clearly highlight the displeasure among several Congress leaders over Rahul Gandhi's resignation as the party chief.

Rahul Gandhi submitted his resignation as the Congress president only weeks after his party once again received a jolt in the Lok Sabha polls.

Congress workers had at that time insisted him to review his decision and continue as the President.

The Congress party then selected his mother and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to carry on as the chief.
