Rahul Gandhi does not trust our own Army, he discussed Doklam with China : PM Modi in Himachal Pradesh

Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, Nov 2 (IBNS) : Playing the patriotism card in the run-up to the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday accused Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi of having no faith in the country's army and holding talks with China on the Doklam stand-off, reports said.

Modi, who was addressing a rally at Dhaula Kuan in Kangra, also took a customary dig at the Congress, asking the people to save Himachal Pradesh from a party that symbolises "Bhrashtachaar (corruption), "Pariwaarwaad (family rule) and "Jaatiwaad (caste politics).

PM Modi also accused the Congress and its top leaders of questioning the BJP government on matters "that any Indian would be proud of."

"The entire nation is witness to how the Doklam issue was dealt with, but the Congress even questioned that," he said.

"...Someone born in a family which has ruled for decades doesn't believe his own Army and agencies? Instead, he meets China's envoy and asks about Doklam," the Prime Minister said in an obvious reference to Rahul Gandhi.

Gandhi had met with Chinese ambassador Luo Zhaohui in July this year, which the party later admitted inviting taunts from the BJP.

"Isn?t it insulting when these people held talks with Chinese leaders on Dokalam instead of asking the elected Government?" he asked.

Indian armed forces and Chinese troops stood face-to-face  in the tri-junction area at Doklam in Bhutan after China embarked on a road building project.

India's contention was that the Chinese move was causing threat to national security, while Beijing alleged that Indian troops had trespassed into the Chinese territory.

He said the Congress "has become a laughing club" as the party is no more that of  Mahatma Gandhi or of freedom fighters, "but a party of corruption and dynasty politics."

Asserting that the BJP is going to wrest power from the Congress in Himachal Pradesh, Modi assailed Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, pointing out that he is out on bail in a corruption case.

"Five monsters - Mining Mafia, Forest Mafia, Drug Mafia, Tender Mafia and Transfer Mafia - have flourished in Himachal under the Congress...time to get rid of them," Modi said.

The BJP has projected Prem Kumar Dhumal as a Chief Ministerial candidate.

Himachal Pradesh, which has 68 assembly seats, votes in a single phase on November 9. Votes will be counted on December 18.
