Rahul a delayed learner, not a factor in Assam : Jaitley
New Delhi, Apr. 7 (IBNS) Calling Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi a 'delayed learner,' Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has said the Gandhi scion will not be a factor in the Assam elections.
"About late Rajiv Gandhi I would like to say that he entered into politics quite late around 1980-81 and became the prime minister in 1984, but he was a quick learner. I hope he (Rahul) also becomes a quick learner but till now he is a 'delayed learner'," Jaitley told ETV.
After a massive drubbing in Delhi and Bihar, the BJP is out to go all out for good show in the Assembly elections in five states, including Assam, where the party claims it will capture power.

"We learnt a lesson from our defeat in Bihar, where we lost by a difference of 3-5 percent and have created a 'Broadbased Alliance' in Assam. BJP has collaborated with AGP, while the Congress is all by itself. People used to think that AGP is no more a strong party but if it manages to grab 5-8 percent of votes, there would be a considerable difference. 12 seats have been given to Bodos," said Jaitley.
Voting for the first phase of Assam polls was held on April 4 and polling for the second phase will take place on April 11.
The BJP is also trying to make inroads in Congress stronghold Kerala. "There is upsurge in Kerala. We (BJP) are taking good number of votes and seats this time," said Jaitley.
