| @indiablooms | Dec 23, 2019, at 08:33 pm

Ranchi/UNI: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das met Governor Draupadi Murmu at the Raj Bhawan here this evening and handed over his resignation following the defeat of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Assembly Elections, results of which were declared earlier in the day.

Das himself had lost from Jamshedpur East seat.

With the resignation of Das, decks have been cleared for the Mahagathbandhan comprising the JMM, Congress and RJD to form the next government in the state under Hemant Soren.

Later talking to the press outside the Raj Bhawan, Das said, he had handed over his resignation to the Governor who has asked him to remain in a caretaker role until a new government assumes office.

Das said results were not as per the expectations of the BJP but the party accepts the verdict given by the people.

He also congratulated Hemant Soren and other newly-elected MLAs.

Das said that he hoped that the development undertaken by him in the state will continue in future and the new government will fulfil the aspirations of the people.

He said that BJP will play the role of a positive opposition in the all-round development of the state.

Das said that soon the party will hold a meeting to decide on what went wrong in the polls.
