Rab arrests Burdwan blast key accused's brother
Dhaka, Nov 11 (IBNS) Bangladesh's Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) has claimed that they have arrested a man who is a brother of a militant associated with the Burdwan blast in West Bengal from Narayanganj , media reports said on Tuesday.
"The detainee has been primary identified as Md Monayem, held from Farajikanda village of Bandar upazila early today, Rab said a text message distributed to the media," The Daily Star reported.
The detention has been made ahead of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA)'s visit to the country.
NIA on Monday arrested Amjad Sheikh, a suspected member of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terror group responsible for the Burdwan blast and the anti-Hasina terror plot.
Panic gripped Salt Lake area of Kolkata on the same night when a huge explosion like sound was heard near the anti-terror investigating agency NIA, which is now probing last October's accidental Burdwan blast in West Bengal that led to the unravelling of a terror plot to kill Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Earlier police arrested and handed over to NIA Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) commander Sajid, a Bangaldeshi national. He was arrested near the airport of Kolkata on Saturday.
The Burdwan blast incident had taken place on Oct 2 last at Khagragarh area in Burdwan district when the explosion in a house led to the killing of two bomb makers and discovery of a cache of arms and ammunition.
Several terror modules were busted following the explosion and its investigation.
