Punjab: Senior RSS leader Jagdish Gagneja shot at in Jalandhar, critical

Jalandhar, Aug 7 (BNS): A senior leader of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) from Punjab was shot at by assailants on bike in Jalandhar on Saturday night, reports said on Sunday.

The victim, identified as Brigadier (Retd) Jagdish Gagneja, was travelling in his car with his wife when he was attacked by the assailants around 9 pm in the Jalandhar's Jyoti Chowk area.

Gagneja, who is the Sah-sarsanghchalak of the RSS's Punjab unit, was rushed to a nearby hospital.

According to reports, he was hit by three bullets.

Gagneja is said to be in a critical condition.

Following the attack, a special investigation team has been formed to probe the same.

So far no arrests have been made.

Police have also reviewed security at the RSS headquarters in Delhi on Saturday night itself. 

According to reports, security has also been increased around the hospital where Gagneja is admitted.
