Chandigarh/IBNS: In what will lead to political ramifications in poll bound state, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi's nephew,Bhupendra Singh Honey, has been arrested by an investigating agency in connection with an illegal sand mining case, media reports said.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Honey last evening.

The accused will be produced in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Friday.

Honey was reportedly arrested under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The agency had seized Rs. eight crore while raiding the premises of Honey last month.

Claiming he has no links to the case, Channi said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's relatives were also raided ahead of the polls last year and the same pattern has been followed in Punjab.

The Congress leader said he was ready to handle the pressure.

All 117 assembly seats of the state will go to elections on Feb 20.
