Pulwama encounter: JeM mastermind Azhar's nephew among slain terrorists
Srinagar, Nov 7 (IBNS): Reports have stated that among the three slain militants in the Pulwama encounter that took place on Monday, one was Jaish-e-Muhammed chief Masood Azhar's nephew.
He has been identified as Talha Raseed.
Officials said that two out of the three militants were Pakistani nationals, including Raseed.
Speaking to India Blooms, a police official said, "The bodies of all the three militants were recovered along with two AK-47 rifles and a pistol."
According to Defence Spokesman, an army soldier, Sham Sundar of 44RR, was also killed in the gunfight.
Azhar is a global terror mastermind who founded Jaish after securing his release following the hijack of IC 814, which took place in 1999.
China on Thursday blocked the move to have Azhar blacklisted by the United Nations.
India, with support of the United States, France and UK, has been taking attempts to get his name added to a UN list of groups with ties to terror organisation Al Qaeda.
China, which is a member of the UN Security Council, has the right to veto.
On Thursday, the country rejected the move stating "there is no consensus" on Masood Azhar's role in terror attacks in India.
The proposal, first introduced by the Trump administration in January this year, wanted the UN to designate Azhar a global terrorist, but was put on a technical hold by China, a permanent member of the UNSC, who used its veto power.
