New Delhi: Police have put several Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders, including former Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu, under house arrest on Wednesday to prevent them from participating in protest against the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government.

Police have banned large gatherings in Palnadu region of the southern state.

The TDP has launched a protest against the Jagan Reddy government — “Chalo Palnadu”—alleging that the ruling YSRCP is targeting the opposition party workers, reported Hindustan Times.

Naidu, TDP party chief, had directed his party members to take out a protest rally from the TDP office in Guntur to Atmakur village in Palnadu region on Wednesday.

Hindustan Times reported that TDP leaders and workers who were trying to go to Naidu’s residence were stopped by police and taken into preventive custody. Section 144 was imposed in Narasaraopeta, Sattenapalle, Palnadu and Gurajala regions of the state.

Naidu and his party were defeated in the Assembly polls held in the state recently.

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy scripted a major victory in the polls and took oath as the CM of the state.

His government has completed 100 days.
