Protect fundamental rights of Aryan Khan: Shiv Sena leader to Supreme Court

Mumbai/IBNS: Backing superstar Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan, who has been arrested in a drug case, a leader of Maharashtra's ruling party Shiv Sena has requested the Supreme Court to step in and "protect the fundamental rights" of the star-kid, media reports said.

Sena leader and Maharashtra minister Kishore Tiwari filed a petition requesting the top court to intervene in the matter.

Tiwari has also alleged that Aryan has been a victim of vendetta by a Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer whose wife failed to enter into the film industry.

"It very relevant and painful to note that its incredible that someone remains inside (jail) for so many days without seizure of drugs or any other proof. No medical report of consumption, so no consumption," Tiwari's petition reads.

Questioning the Maharashtra government's intent in backing what he called "drug mafia", spokesperson of Sena's opponent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Ram Kadam, said as quoted by NDTV, "We are not against Aryan khan or any individual. We respect Shah Rukh Khan's craft.

"But the way the Maharashtra government is supporting the drug mafia and targeting the NCB, we want to ask - what is the link? Is the state government getting kickbacks."

Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister and Sena chief, Uddhav Thackeray, had alleged the drug agency was only interested in arresting celebrities.

Last year, Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty were arrested after the NCB got hold of WhatsApp chats related to drug procurement in an investigation stemming from actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death probe.

Later, top Bollywood personalities Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor were summoned by the NCB in connection with the drug case.

Aryan, who was detained by the NCB on Oct 2 night following a raid at a rave party on a cruise, is in Mumbai's Arthur Road jail since Oct 8.
