New Delhi, Apr 1 (IBNS):  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday greeted the people on the occasion of Easter.

Modi said he wishes to see that the noble thoughts of Lord Christ motivate people of the nation.

“Happy  Easter! I hope this special day strengthens the bonds of unity, peace and brotherhood. May the noble thoughts and ideals of Lord Christ motivate people to serve and bring a positive difference to society,” the Prime Minister said.

Easter, also called Pascha or Resurrection Sunday, is a festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day of his burial after his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD.

It is the culmination of the Passion of Jesus, preceded by Lent, a forty-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance.

It is celebrated across the world by people belonging to the Christian community on Sunday.
