President Ram Nath Kovind to undergo bypass on Tuesday

New Delhi/IBNS: President Ram Nath Kovind will undergo a planned bypass procedure on the morning of March 30, Tuesday.

He was shifted to AIIMS, Delhi, in the afternoon today. The doctors advised him to undergo bypass after a thorough examination.

The President’s health is stable and he is under the care of the experts at the AIIMS.

"The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind has been shifted to the AIIMS, Delhi, in the afternoon today (March 27, 2021). Post investigations, doctors have advised him to undergo a planned bypass procedure which is expected to be performed on the morning of March 30, Tuesday. The President's health is stable and he is under the care of the experts at the AIIMS," an official statement said.

Kovind, 75, underwent a health check-up at the military hospital after he complained of chest discomfort on Friday morning.

Earlier today, he was referred to AIIMS, Delhi, by the Army Research and Referral Hospital.

"The President has been under observation after a routine medical checkup. He thanks all who enquired about his health and wished him well" the office of President of India tweeted.

.Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day trip to Bangladesh, spoke to the President over phone on Friday and enquired after his health.
