President congratulates Indian Paralympians post medal win

New Delhi, Sept 10 (IBNS): President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday congratulated Mariyappan Thangavelu and Varun Singh Bhati post their Gold and Bronze medal win at the ongoing Paralympics.

Thangavelu and Bhati won their respective medals in Men's High jump event.

In a message sent to Mariyappan Thangavelu, the President has said, “Hearty congratulations on becoming the first Indian high jumper to win a Gold Medal at the Rio Paralympic Games-2016."

"Your achievement will inspire confidence amongst all Indian sportspersons that they can reach the pinnacle of any sport at the international level. It will also in particular motivate and fill with pride the differently-abled people of our country," Mukherjee said.

"The entire nation joins me in celebrating your success. Please accept my best wishes for all future endeavours," he added.

In a message sent to Varun Bhati, Mukherjee has said, “I am delighted to know that you have won the Bronze Medal in the Men’s High Jump T42 event at the Rio Paralympic Games-2016. Your success is a matter of great pride for all Indians. It will serve as an inspiration to all sportspersons of our country."

"I congratulate you and wish you the very best for the future," said he.
