Prashant Kishor stuns BJP in Bankipur! Jan Suraaj Chief wins poll debut, ends 35-year fortress

Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor made a remarkable electoral debut on Monday, defeating the BJP's Neeraj Kumar Sinha to win the Bankipur Assembly by-election in Bihar.

Kishor secured victory by a margin of 18,953 votes, marking Jan Suraaj's first-ever electoral triumph since the party's formation.

The result also ended the BJP's 30-year hold over the Bankipur Assembly constituency, which had remained a saffron bastion since 1995.

"The poll sent a strong message to the central leadership of the BJP that they should make a good person as CM of Bihar," he told reporters in his first reaction after the victory.

"The main aim should be to makesure Bihar sees development in future and more jobs could be created for youths," he said.

The bypoll was necessitated after BJP national president Nitin Nabin resigned from the Assembly following his election to the Rajya Sabha.

Kishor's decision to contest from Bankipur transformed what might have been a routine by-election into one of Bihar's most closely watched political contests.

His victory not only marked a successful entry into electoral politics but also broke the BJP's decades-long dominance in the constituency, giving Jan Suraaj a significant political breakthrough.
