Policeman, civilian killed in north Kashmir militant attack

Srinagar, Aug 18 (IBNS): Militants shot dead policeman and a civilian in Tujar area of Sopore town in North Kashmir on Tuesday, officials said.
According to reports, armed Guerrillas targetted the policeman from point blank range resulting in the death of him.

Militants also decamped with the service rifle, police said.

The police constable was guarding the shrine of Sultan-ul Arifin Makhdoom, the officer said.

Constable Fayaz Ahmad of IRP 13BN and another handicapped person Ab Rahim Lone were injured in the attack. 

Both were shifted to a hospital in Sopore town where they succumbed to injuries, the officer said.

This attack comes after five months when militants killed six persons in Sopore town.

Soon after the incident, Police, Army and CRPF  rushed to the spot and cordoned the area to nab the attackers.
